Another beautiful morning of football at Vandyke School, where the Tigers met Aylesbury United in a League match.
The Tigers started the game strongly with some excellent team passing putting sustained pressure onto the visitors.
The Tigers had a few early attempts on goal at the beginning of the first quarter, but finally, two great strikes from Noomi gave the Tigers a deserved lead of 2-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The visitors came out fighting in the second quarter and both goal keepers were kept busy.
Aylesbury finally got back into the game with two goals, the second was an absolute screamer. From this point onwards in the second quarter and part of the third, the Tigers came under pressure with some quality driving runs from Aylesbury, but with some great defensive play from Caitlin and Jess, the Tigers started to battle back and by the end of the end of the third quarter were back in control.
At the start of the fourth quarter the Tigers went hunting again, but it was Aylesbury who took the lead with a beautifully hit shot to make the score 3-2 to Aylesbury.
Once again the Tigers showed their impressive fighting spirit, putting pressure on the visitors. This constant pressure led to an opportunity for Marni who calmly slotted the ball into the corner of the net to make the score 3-3.
With the full time whistle imminent, an interception and driving run by Carey created one final chance for the Tigers which was emphatically slotted home by Noomi to score with the last kick of the game.
Final score 4-3 Tigers
Great team performance Tigers you did us proud.
