This weekend saw the Jaguars line up against Woburn and Wavendon Clarets- a side they had faced in the previous trophy which ended level, resulting in a penalty shootout- so they knew the game was going to be tough.
W&W arguably started the better of the 2 sides playing some great passing moves but as the quarter went on the Jaguars grew into the game and both sides were unlucky not to score.
The jaguars took the lead in the second quarter when a whipped in corner by Esther caused confusion in the W&W goal and the ball found itself coming against the post and rolling across the line.
Into the second half and the game was end to end with a number of chances for both sides. The Jags scoring again when a penalty was given for a handball. Esther stepping up to slot the penalty low into the corner of the goal!
Into the 4th quarter and W&W pushed more players up which created a number of good chances for the Jaguars. Isla and Savannah in particular coming close!
The jags did score again when Sienna burst forward from he own half to run the length of the pitch and rifle a left foot finish into the top of the net – slamming the bottom of the bar on its way in!
The game finished with further chances for each side- but no further goals.
Today’s game was physical all round and the girls all stood up well to it.
Marcelina – solid in goal again- with some good saves and solid hands.
Esme – strong in the tackle with a number of huge clearances.
Bella – a rock – her leg sometimes coming from nowhere to nick the ball away at the vital moment!
Alyssia- a parked so hard in defence – with a huge shot block at the end of the 3rd period!
Tianna- tireless running – strong in the tackle and covered every blade of grass.
Sienna- scored a superb goal and showed her electric pace to help out her defenders!
Esther – 2 goals today- and unlucky not to have a hatrick of assists! Tireless work rate!
Ella- solid in midfield with some strong tackles helping her defense.
Isla- worked so hard upfront and unlucky not to grab a goal! Her huge throw was a constant thorn in our opponents side!
Savannah- played on pitch the whole game- and made herself loads of space and had some great chances but was just unlucky.
All in all – a great team performance.
A possible friendly next week – then easter weekend off before we play again in the trophy tournament!
Proud coach today!
