Jaguars with Dominant Display

With no game in the Trophy Event the Jaguars headed to the far side of Milton Keynes to face FC Castlethorpe, a side they had already face twice this season.

With the return of some drier weather the Jags found themselves having to deal with a strong crosswind this week.

The Jags travelled with 11 players with Ella joining the match day squad of Tianna, Bella, Isla, Marcelina, Esme, Jessie, Savannah, Sienna, Alyssia and Esther.

The Jags began the game well and with the wind in their favour. The midfield of Tianna, Esther and Sienna constantly putting Castlethorpe under pressure. Jessie was tireless with her effort up front and Esme and Bella were solid in defence ensuring any breaks were quickly closed down. If they were breached Savannah was there to safely collect the ball.

The Jags dominated but were didn’t find the scoresheet until late in the quarter when Sienna collected a throw and burst forward running from the halfway line before confidently finding the net.

For the second quarter Marcelina, Isla, Alyssia and Ella took to the field and continued to put pressure on our opponents.

Marcelina and Isla in particular unlucky not to add to the scoresheet.

Ella played a holding midfield role and was there to mop up any quick breaks, whilst Alyssia was all over the defensive zone ensuring no shots were allowed!

No further goals – but great effort from all!

After half timec the Jags now had the wind against them and were weary of coming under pressure. But the girls continued their fantastic effort to maintain their hold on the game.

Isla was a constant threat with her long throw and the work rate across the team meant more goals were likely.

These came when Ella finished from a melee following a throw, before Esther then placed one from distance – which the coaches had the perfect view of as it arrowed into the net!

Tianna completed the goalscoring when she reacted quickest lashing a curling effort just inside the box into the top corner!

Overall a really solid performance from the girls ensuring they maintained pressure throughout the game- battling for every ball.

POTM from our opponents was Marcelina, with coaches player being Jessie.

Some really fine finishes today and with a clean sheet the defenders should also also be very proud! You don’t get many of them in grassroots football!

Onto Woburn and Wavendon next week in the trophy event!
