Lining up with no substitutes, the match was always going to be a tough one for the players. With Sophie in goal, Belle starting in central defence, flanked each side by Chiara and Sarayah, and Aoife supporting in front of them in central defensive mid field. Amelie took her normal central attacking position, along with Grace on the right wing and Chloe on the left wing. The line-up was completed by Ava in the central striker role.
Shortly after the start, Lynxes were two goals down, after some fortunate play from the opposition. Going into the break 2 nil down, we had our work to do, but still all to play for. Chloe gave hope shortly after the restart with a great individual goal. The Lynxes used this as a motivation and were dominating possession and creating lots of chances. Then the sucker punch came and Lynxes were 3-1 down against the run of play in the second half. The game finished 4-1 in the end, which unfortunately ended our 11-game unbeaten streak.
Plenty of experience was gained and lots to work on in training, but the girls will come back stronger.
Grace got POTM due to her excellent work down the right and great crossing into the box.
Next up, home match against Stotfold Junior Lilacs.
Thanks to Coach Vig for the match report
