Another accomplished performance from Pumas with some wonderful passing football on a bobbly and uneven pitch. This was arguable their best passing on grass this season.
With a win needed to reach an unassailable points tally and clinch the title early, there were few signs of nerves. The girls put in an incredible shift against a tall, physical side, relishing the challenge, racing into a dominant 4-0 lead at half time with some classy passing and clinical finishing.
The second half witnessed some high quality drills straight off the training ground with the girls passing the ball around comfortably for long periods, switching the play, and relentlessly keeping possession. Just the one goal added in the second half after a stunning ‘keeper display kept out numerous attempts, some from point black range.
This truly was a complete squad performance with a clean sheet to boot. The confidence was clear and it was hard to pick out any individuals.
After full time and post-match formalities were finished, the girls (coaches and parents too) were able to celebrate with cheers of “CHAMPIONS, CHAMPIONS, CHAMPIONS” before a celebratory meal at the golden arches.
Although there are still games left to play, what an amazing season and roll on the Tournaments!
