Forget the scoreline, this was a thrilling game. The Lynxes lined up away at league leaders Luton Town Lancasters. Riding high in division 2, Luton were aiming to maintain their 100% record.
From the off, we could tell the challenge in front of us was the toughest we had ever faced. With Belle at center back, Chloe in front of her, Addison and Aoife either side. The solid first-half performance, against so much pressure, enabled the Lynxes to go into the break all square.
In the second half, the Lynxes were going downhill and the game became end-to-end. The Lynxes defended and played well all over the pitch. Lucy with her persistence had some great battles and Sarayah put in some resolute challenges refusing to be beaten. Towards the end, Ava popped up with a crunching but fair tackle.
Lynxes rode their luck at times with Luton hitting the cross and having some wide shots. Right at the death, Amelie put a ball through and Amber battled her way to the goal mouth. Unfortunately, the keeper pulled out a worldie save to prevent the Lynxes walking away with all points.
In the end, a draw was a magnificent and fair result, against this seasoned team who have swept everyone else away prior. The Lynxes should be proud of themselves that we can equally match this caliber of opponent.
Player of the match goes to Belle. Having been briefed on her job before the game, she never needed reminding of what to do. Always taking up great positions and never letting players beat her, she was brilliant throughout the game.
