Today the Lynxes lined up at home against Stotfold Lilacs. Despite yet another week of rain, the pitch was deemed playable.
Having won the reverse fixture narrowly, the Lynxes knew that this would be a difficult game. Shortly after the start, a mis-clearance from Bell unfortunately let Stotfold through, one on one with goalie Sophie, which the converted.
After going one nil down the Lynxes were matching Stotfold toe to toe. Then right back Maya puts an amazing over-the-top through ball to Amber on the left wing. Bearing down on goal Amber then slotted home to equalise. Game on.
Half-time, all even. In the second half, there were chances at both ends. Sophie in goal gave a commanding performance, coming out and calling when she wanted her defenders to leave the ball. For stopping everything that came to her she earned herself player of the match. She has been working hard in training and performances like this showed that.
Lynxes had plenty of chances in the second half but were unable to make them count. On another day we could have won the game comfortably. In the end, it could be argued a draw was a fair result.
Next up league leader Luton Town at home.
